So there's a third option, which is to put the drawer handle's 1/3 down the vertical dimension. I like it, but not so much for the top drawer, it just looks a little too high for such a small vertical span. These two pics show one image with 1/3 measures for all 3 drawers and one that's 1/3 for the 12 inch tall drawers and, well, a little closer to centered for the top drawer, but still high of center.
But the 'nother thing is, I happened to be at Lowe's this evening after coming up empty handed at Home Depot last night looking for handles or knobs for my bathroom vanity cabinet. I'm getting a little tired of bending over to the floor to grab cabinet doors by their bottoms... Anyway, I found a handle that I liked at Home Depot, but they only had one and I need two. (argh!)
Tonight I happened to be up north so stopped by Lowe's on the way home to check out their selection. I managed to find a couple of acceptable designs, or so I think, that will go okay with the faucet. I think that's all I have to worry about matching or clashing with. So I got those, then I looked at electrical--looking mostly for inspiration--and under cabinet lighting and tools and and... And then FINALLY it occurred to me to walk through their mock kitchens and see how they did their knobs. Every single drawer handle is centered. Huh. The door knobs/handles were all slightly farther from the edge in the vertical direction than they were in the horizontal dimension, actually jives pretty well with what I have. So that was interesting. But I still think I like the drawer handles slightly high of center...
